For those of you who don’t have many extra hours to spend looking through maps, try the Unified 1940 Census ED Finder by Stephen P. Morse, PhD  &  Joel D. Weintraub, PhD.

It will allow you to search by address, narrowing results by cross streets, and can also provide possible enumeration matches based on the enumeration districts from the 1930 census if you have that information handy.

Basically, it’s amazing.

I have been scouring through the census records for New York for the past 2 evenings on Ancestry.com without success.  The enumeration district map they have on the site is cut off and doesn’t show the full area of Kings county or even Brooklyn, NY.

Today I found links to some very helpful tract maps at 1940sCensus.net!
