Enumeration Districts in the 1940 Census

Unified Enumeration District (ED) Finder

The Unified 1940 Census ED Finder by Stephen P. Morse, PhD  &  Joel D. Weintraub, PhD can find Enumeration Districts from 1880-1940 and will soon cover 1950. You can search by address with the ability to narrow results by cross streets, or you can look for possible matches with information from other decades of the Census.

Enumeration District Tract Maps

If you rely on Ancestry.com for reference material, you may have noticed that their tract maps for the 1940 Census aren’t exactly helpful. Their Enumeration District Map for New York is cut off and doesn’t show the full area of Kings county or even Brooklyn, NY. Luckily, 1940sCensus.net has some very helpful tract maps!
