Fra Ytterli (Ytterlien)

Some of the information below was originally from the Ytterli section of the farm book (bygdebøker) Hemnes Farm and Family. I have reformatted this information and translated it to the best of my abilities. The original digital bygdebøker can be accessed in full on the website — Caolsson Slekwiki (Norwegian).

Farm Name – Origination:

The name Ytterlien, which literally translated to mean ‘further’ may come from that the farm is located further out in the valley than Bryggfjelldalen, which is separate from the farm. It may also have been chosen to separate the name from Fagervolli, also known as ‘the lien’.
