Donald was born on the 30th day of December, 1910 in Trondheim, Norway.

While Donald was born in Norway, both of his parents had already been living in the United States prior to both his birth and their marriage.  David’s father arrived in 1905, and his mother arrived in 1908.  They had one son before Donald, a boy named Harold Davidson, born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1909.

Prior to Donald’s birth in 1910, Sigrid made the journey back to visit her family in Trondheim, along with son Harold.  This is where Donald was born. Sponsored by Martin Olav Iverson, he was christened two months later on the 12th of March in Korgen, Hemnes by Pastor O. Kjillard.

It was six months after that on September 29th, 1911 that Sigrid, Harold and Donald started their journey home.  Departing from Port Christiana on the Scandinavian Line Tietgen, they arrived in New York on October 11, 1911.

He grew up in Brooklyn, the family residence being at 747 41st Street in 1920 and 674 51st Street in 1930.  By 1930 his father had passed away, though the date is not confirmed.

On October 3rd, 1934, he was married to Eugenia Antonina Koczoń by Pastor Sidney H. Barrett at Presbyterian Church, in Sag Harbor, NY.  He was 23.  They had two children:

  1. Diane Eugenia Davidson, b: 09.02.1941 / d: 12.05.1991, Lake Mary, FL
  2. Donald Evans Davidson, Jr., b: 1944, New York

Donald worked as an Interior Decorator & Salesman for F. Schumacher & Co. in New York City.

Like many others during this period, Donald fell ill with Tuberculosis.  He passed away at 1:40 a.m. on July 12th, 1949 in the Tuberculosis ward at Sea View Hospital on Staten Island, NY.  He was 38.  His funeral was held on July 15th, 1949 at Halvorsen Chapel, 5210, 8th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY.  He is buried at The Evergreens Cemetery in Brooklyn – Burial Number 360799.
